At the invitation of Shenyang University of Technology (SUT), the delegation of Delaware State University (DSU) of the United States of America visited SUT. The delegation was composed of Professor Fengshan Liu, the Associate Vice President for international affairs of DSU, and Mr. Weiyuan Yu, the Chinese Program Coordinator of the the Office of International affairs of DSU.
Professor Xiaoguang Yuan, SUT Vice President in charge of the international affairs, met the delegation in Conference Room 418 in the headquarters in the morning of April 1. Mr. Yuan firstly expressed his warm welcome to the guests, and recalled the progress of the friendly cooperation between the two universities. Since the two universities signed the Memorandum of Cooperation between Delaware State University and Shenyang University of Technology, he said, the two universities again signed the Amendment I: Delaware State University Culture Enrichment Program, and Cooperation Agreement regarding Jointly Delivering a 3+2 Undergraduate / Graduate Program, and the programs are carried out very successfully. In the whole process, Vice President Liu has done a great job and made a lot of efforts. And he appreciates that a lot. He then made some proposals concerning sending youth faculty members to study at DSU, and setting up cooperation programs between the science and engineering disciplines.
Associate Vice President Liu thanked Vice President Yuan for meeting the delegation while Mr. Yuan was in the midst of processing affairs. He informed the situation of the SUT students who are now studying at DSU. He assured Mr. Yuan that he would coordinate with the concerning schools and departments to study the possibility of teacher training and other cooperation programs.
After the meeting, Associate Vice President Liu held a admission teach-in at the Multi-functional Conference Room in the Liberal Art Building. He introduced the general information about US university graduate admission, campus life, course system and program selection, graduate employment and income, university governance, living in USA, Chinese students, DSU overview, requirements of cultural program and 3+2 undergraduate-graduate program, etc. He the answered questions raised by students. More than 30 students from the School of Economics and the School of International Education attended the teach-in.
